SMITH ST FITZROY

At a scale of 1.250, the Smith Street Model was constructed to be a design tool, providing contextual information for an mixed-used proposal in Fitzroy, Melbourne. Buildings currently (at the time) under construction or awaiting planning permit approval by the City of Yarra council were demarcated in grey to reflect, as accurately as possible, the future surround conditions for the intended build.

This context model depicts a portion of Smith Street, Fitzroy - stretching between the iconic Gasometer Hotel up to the Johnston/Smith Street intersection. This model assisted in visualizing a variety of local conditions, including the surrounding slope, shadows, site boundaries, future developments, potential wind corridors, street frontages, parking and existing architectural forms.
